Welcome to 2007! The first our new VSF Junior Graded Series events was held at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre with ... entrants participating. It was our first event for 2007 and it was fantastic to see most of you back on deck again after the Christmas & New Year Break. This event followed on immediately after the first High Performance Program training session (run from 9-10:45am) with a record 50 players participating and enjoying the fresh new format.

This was the first event run by Richard Cagliarini, VSF's newly appointed Development Manager, who takes over from Karen Morrissey (now Head Coach of the VIS). Richard did a great job running the tournament and was assisted by Brad Kemp - they worked well together to run a smooth and on time event (as we've come to expect with VSF!)

Events were conducted for A, B, C, D, E, Novice and Beginner grades and all participants have gained points which will count towards their Graded Ranking. The rankings haven't been updated for some time since Karen's departure but will be once Richard officially commences full time employment with the VSF in the coming weeks.

It is really terrific to see more and more new players joining our growing tournament circuit as well as our trusty 'reliables' who support everything we do. We really appreciate the great support we receive from all players (and their parents & coaches) in attending our events and making them as good as they are.

As always with the timed, point-a-rally format, there were some exciting, close games with many coming down to a sudden-death rally to determine the winner when scores were tied on the bell. This always produces a very competitive but good spirited atmosphere which we all enjoy so much.
