KEON PARK JUNIOR GRADED TOURNAMENT

9 April 2006
Keon Park Squash Centre

Our third Graded event for the year was held at Keon Park Squash Centre on Sunday, 9 April, after High Performance Program training and was another great success! It was wonderful to see so many new faces and this is truly a sign of the growth of junior squash in Victoria - the hard work Victorian Squash is doing at the grass roots level is clearly paying off!!!

The VSF was most pleased to conduct this 'first time' event at Keon Park, who were terrific hosts - thanks Lucy & Paul! Let's hope their junior program can develop further over the coming years and Keon Park has many entrants in future VSF junior tournaments.

There was non stop action all day and some extremely close and exciting matches to watch. Well done to all players for behaving like great sports and doing your bit with the marking and reffing - also thanks to the parents who chipped in to help the youngsters with these duties too.

Well done and thankyou to the parents who ran a fantastic canteen all day raising much needed funds for this year's state team and our general junior fundraising pool.

Thanks again to everyone for staying for the Presentations - it is really a thrill for the players to be recognised and congratulated in front of a big crowd. Nice to see that the trophies (which were massive!) went down really well with the players - especially those who won them!

VSF TOURNAMENT CIRCUIT MAJOR PRIZE: All players who participated in the Keon Park Junior Graded tournament have received 1 ticket in the draw to win the major prize (drawn later in the year). In the past we have given away a Sony Play Station 2, an X-Box and an Apple I-pod Mini!!!

RANKINGS: All entrants in this event have been added to the Victorian Squash Federation's Graded Order of Merit, receiving an OFFICIAL VICTORIAN GRADED RANKING. This Order of Merit will be updated after every junior graded event. Every quarter we will also publish rankings for each grade: A, B, C, D, E, Novice & Beginner so you can check out how you are going within your grade! Click here for the latest list.

CLUB PRIZE: The VSF has introduced an incentive for Clubs to encourage their players to participate in our junior tournament circuit - the club with the most entries at each VSF junior tournament this year will win a great prize. Congratulations to Squash Logic Melton for winning on this occasion with 12 entries.

NEXT EVENT: The next Junior Age event is the VSL Junior Age Championships on Sunday, 7 May at Knox. Entries close on 28 April. The next Junior Graded event is the Wangaratta Junior Graded Tournament on Sunday, 30 April (starts at 10am as no HPP preceeds it). Entries close on 21 April. Grab your entry forms and enter now.

REMINDER: Keep checking our calendar regularly to make sure you are up to date with the latest event information.
