Although we were down on numbers this year due to the timing of
our school holidays which did not allow the overseas and interstate
groups to attend as they have in previous years, we still had a
very successful state titles and an extremely high standard of match
play.
As
always, at Westerfolds, we had a great tournament, which ran smoothly
thanks mainly to those assisting with the running of the event (thanks
to Mark Ikin and Richard Cagliarini), the players who checked in
early and were ready to take to the court on time (or early) and
Vicki Cardwell who was hosting us for the day on behalf of Olivia
Kent.
The
atmosphere was warm and friendly with our 'regular' and growing
number of supporters along with some new faces which was great.
There was a large group of friends and family members supporting
the players along with some of the best coaches in the state.
A
great canteen was again organised by Bev Murphy who had a team of
helpers in the kitchen, once again raising much needed funds for
Victorian Junior Squash - Thank you to all parents who assisted
in some way with the canteen - we can't thank you enough!
There
are big plans in place for dramatic changes to the Junior Squash
scene in Victoria starting next year so stay tuned for those - in
the mean time if you have any suggestions that would enhance the
VSF junior tournament circuit please let us know by phoning our
Development Manger, Karen Morrissey at the office on 9682 2199,
on her mobile on 0409 526 224 or by emailing
your ideas.
