Our
first ever state titles for Junior Graded Doubles was held at MSAC
on Sunday, 13 August following High Performance Program training,
and was a HUGE SUCCESS with 46 players making history!!!
Events
were conducted for A, B, C, D, E Grade and Novice level players.
There were so many closely contested matches that could have gone
either way, finishing a draw or one point the difference! It was
a very entertaining day and the feedback we recevied from everyone
was that the event was a lot of fun.
The
gradings were just about spot on with all pairs being pretty competitive
in their respective grades. Some pairs were trying to back up their
wins at our first doubles event this year held in May with varying
degrees of success.
It
was great to see so many new players and doubles 'first timers'
proving that anyone can play doubles - some entrants have only been
playing squash for 6 months. On the day we call all players together
prior to first matches to introduce the rules and run through the
format for the day providing all the info needed to be able to play
doubles successfully.
We
have big plans for next year's tournament circuit which certainly
includes doubles events so stay tuned for our calendar which is
due out next month.
Looking
forward to seeing you all at the GRADED STATE TITLES for Singles
on September 10.
