VICTORIAN JUNIOR GRADED CHAMPIONSHIPS

10 September 2006 | M.S.A.C

Our final High Performance Program training session for this year was followed by our 2006 state junior graded titles which was our BIGGEST EVENT so far.

A massive 80 entrants competed across A, B, C, D, E, Novice and Beginner grades and it was a fantastic day.

We had many new players competing in their first VSF tournament, along with our regular crew and their was an exciting vibe in the air. Everyone was keen to get into the matches, and with nine courts going flat chat all day, we needed to keep things on track to ensure a timely finish to fit in our HUGE presentations!

Matches were timed, using point per rally scoring, and all grades used Swiss Draw formats with 8 players or more in each grade. The gradings turned out to be pretty spot on with extremely close and competitive games contested in every grade, many having to go to a 'sudden death' rally where scores were tied on the buzzer, and only a few new comers flying under our radar on this occasion.

All players are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm, great sportsmanship and efforts on the day. We received a lot of fantastic feedback from players and their parents throughout the day and have since received numerous emails congratulating us on running such a great event. So, I'll take this opportunity to say thank you for your support and I hope we can continue to run the most popular and professional junior tournaments around!!!

The board games and card games were a huge hit with players who were killing time in between matches, especially our younsters. We plan to build our 'games' kit so that you can continue to entertain yourselves at these events. Thanks to everyone who used the games for taking care with them and packing everything away.

The presentations were fantastic with so many players going home with goodies. Firstly, we had our state champions and runners up for each grade taking home very nice trophies for their efforts, and we also announced our Overall 2006 Circuit Champions for each Grade. These awards are based on your performances at all of the junior graded events in the past 12 months.

Congratulations to the following players who received very snazzy glass trophies for their achievements:
