Our
first Country Graded event for the year was held at Wangaratta Aquatic
Centre on Sunday, 30 April with a number of players travelling hundreds
of kilometres to support this event. As always, the event was run
well by the Wangaratta Squash Club, in particular, Sue Thomas and
Julie Sands - well done ladies!
The
action kicked off just after 10am and all courts were fully loaded
right throughout the day. Well done to the local players who stepped
in at the last minute where we had a couple of last minute withdrawals,
including one spider bite - outch!
There
some extremely close and exciting matches to watch, many finishing
with only one point difference on the bell. Thanks to all players
for being great sports and sharing the marking and reffing duties
- also thanks to the parents who helped with scoring too.
One
of the highlights of this tournament is the FREE lunch which comprises
never ending pizzas and a sausage sizzle, leaving no one hungry,
but maybe a few tummies too full for their next match!
Thanks
to everyone who stayed for the Presentations to support the trophy
winners. It is also important for the sponsors to have all competitors
and their families present - they really appreciate it too.
