Our
first Graded event for the year, kicked off at Westerfolds on Sunday,
12 February, after High Performance Program training and was an
OUTSTANDING SUCCESS! Thanks to all coaches, players, and their families
who attended and contributed to the fun on the day. Thank you also
to Olivia Kent for hosting us at your wonderful squash centre.
This
event was also the official launch of our new look Tournament Circuit
and the feedback you all provided on the day was TREMENDOUS - we
really appreciate it. The feedback is still rolling in and we really
want to hear from you. Tell
us what you thought - be honest! What did you like about the
tournament and what could we do better for next time. We are striving
to continually improve your tournament experience so let us know...
Players
& parents were impressed with the new display system which show
cases all the FANTASTIC things VSF is doing in junior squash in
Victoria and were entertained by the non-stop latest SQUASH DVD'S
playing on the flat screen TV.
All
players helped to keep the day running on time by being ready for
their matches and always collecting the score sheet to do their
share of marking/refereeing duties. Thanks to those coaches, parents
and players who did extra scoring or reffing to help out our newer
or younger players.
It
was great to see so many people supporting this event and staying
right through to the presentations. The trophies were great (as
usual!!!) and it was pleasing to see everyone went home with a smile
on their face.
Given
that there were so many new players it was difficult to know their
correct grading and a fair bit of guess work came into play. As
expected there were bound to be a few wobbly ones, but there were
no complaints - so well done to those players trying their first
VSF graded tournament and thanks for keeping your chin up if you
had some tough matches. Now that we know you better, you can be
assured you will be in the right grade at future events.
VSF
TOURNAMENT CIRCUIT MAJOR PRIZE: All players who participated
in the Westerfolds Junior Graded tournament have received 1 ticket
in the draw to win the major prize (drawn later in the year). In
the past we have given away a Sony Play
Station 2, an X-Box and an Apple I-pod Mini!!! We
are still tying to decide what the 2006 prize will be - ANY SUGGESTIONS
or REQUESTS???
RANKINGS:
All entrants in this event will be added to the Victorian Squash
Federation's Graded Order of Merit, receiving an OFFICIAL
VICTORIAN GRADED RANKING. This Order of Merit will
be updated after every junior graded event. Every quarter we will
also publish rankings for each grade: A, B, C, D, E, Novice &
Beginner so you can check out how you are going within your grade!
CLUB
PRIZE: The VSF has introduced an incentive for Clubs to encourage
their players to participate in our junior tournament circuit -
the club with the most entries at each VSF junior tournament this
year will win a great prize. Congratulations
to WESTERFOLDS for winning this time with 10 entries.
They have won 2 tickets to the Commonwealth Games Men's & Women's
Singles Squash Finals!!! Westerfolds can now use this prize however
they see fit, and hopefully it will benefit their junior program.
NEXT
EVENT: The next junior graded event is the Prince Junior
Graded Tournament on Sunday, 5 March (after HPP training)

you will receive a FREE Prince showbag if you enter by the closing
